‘I was standing at the student hostel kitchen sink, drying a coffee cup when a thought popped into my mind, “Are you willing never to be married?” I paused as I reflected on the question: “Never to be married?”
The words reverberated in my mind like an echo in an empty cave.
A nineteen-year-old, second-year university student standing on the brink of life’s adventure, I’d taken for granted that one day a young man would come into my life, and we would travel on through life together.
I wasn’t ready yet, but I’d never contemplated being permanently alone on the journey…’
